Over the past 6 years John Pinkard has also led a number of independent reviews of business travel policies and practices for a range of public and private-sector organisations. For example, in 2012 John managed a project for Bombardier Aerospace (Northern Ireland) to scope out the potential for the organisation to reduce the costs, carbon emissions and risks associated with work related travel and transport.
During 2011-12 John worked with the Carbon Trust in England to deliver technical support to public sector organisations wishing to reduce their transport carbon footprints. Support was provided through one-to-one advice, seminars and webinars, as well as client workshops and focussed on the impacts of both business and commuter travel.
In 2010 John developed the “Transport & Logistics” module for the Business Improvement through Environmental Solutions Programme in Belfast. He then ran the module annually over a 4 year period. A particular focus of this work was helping participating SMEs to identify strategies to reduce the costs, emissions and duty of care risks associated with work-related travel.
